A Failure To Stand Up For Alberta, OR Our #$%#$ Lefty Premier

Our new lefty premier just doesn't get Albertans. Is she really from Alberta? Does she not understand what makes Alberta prosperous? Guess not.

CALGARY - Alberta Premier Alison Redford said she's not going to lobby Washington decision-makers to give a stamp of approval to the controversial Keystone XL pipeline......

"It's not my intention and never has been my intention to go and specifically lobby decision-makers in the process because that's not how the process works," said Redford. "I do believe that this is a process that Americans have to go through, to decide what they want to come to be.
"We are going to very clearly tell the story that this matters to Alberta and we think that we can speak to our experience with respect to regulations and pipelines."

Liberal lefty spewing on, and on about nothing, and the problem is that she is serious. Don't make waves by actually PROMOTING Alberta. A "process"?  How polite, how destructive to Alberta's oil industry. "Tell the story"? Is she serious? Lady, it's not a "story", it is the livelihood of thousands of Canadians, not just Albertans. We have the oil, the US wants oil and have the capacity to process it, why wouldn't you go there and promote our ethical oil over the middle east blood oil? What a wash out you are already. Bring back Eddy, at least he was smart enough to know he needed advisers to help him, Alison thinks she is smart enough to do everything on her own, or by listening to US advisers. Typical liberal thinking.

The new premier has taken intense criticism from Wildrose Party leader Danielle Smith, who insists Redford should have travelled to Washington for the final keystone hearing on Oct 7.
Redford was sworn in as premier on Oct. 7, and said Smith is merely an “armchair quarterback.”
“I think it’s easy to sit back and say ‘you should have done this you should have done that.’ What I know is that before I made this sort of decision I took advice from people who are in leadership roles in Washington,” said Redford.
“I’m very confident in the advice that I’ve received with respect to that and I believe that this is exactly the right time to go.”

 Advise from Americans? Seriously? Is she that clueless? Sigh....she obviously is.

During four days of travelling starting in Washington Nov. 14, Redford will also stop over in New York Wednesday to speak about Alberta’s viable investment markets, while addressing environmental stewardship in Toronto Wednesday, wrapping up the week meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Ottawa Thursday.
“Part of what we need to be able to do when we’re in Toronto and in Ottawa is to be abel to set a tone for the fact that as a government we intend to do business differently with respect to federal/provincial relations,” she said.

 We intend to do business differently? How? Hey, Alison, Toronto is not the center of the universe, are you going to pander to it? Ottawa just wants our money, how are you going to ensure that we get to keep more of ours? Big talk, no actual plan, or is she keeping it secret from Albertans?

There is nothing Conservative about our new premier-elect, she is a lefty from head to toe. Thanks to the PC's stupid membership rules, the Liberals/NDP/Greens voted in a useless Liberal premier. Last election of a leader, I voted. This time I couldn't care less, because I will not be voting PC in the next election, I will be voting Wildrose. I just hope that Alison doesn't permentally damage our relationship with the federal government and the US in the meantime. She thinks she's smarter than Ed, but I suspect that she is just another arrogant Liberal pretending to be a Conservative. She is in for a huge shock, think Kim Campbell, next election!

Alison, go to the US, shout out to anyone who will listen, that Alberta is open for business. Tell them that the pipeline will provide American jobs. Oh, why do I bother, she's tone deaf to Conservatives.

The West Is The Place To Be!

I have been seeing lots of Ontario plates here in Alberta, and every time I look into the vehicle it is a young male or males. BC gets the retired Albertans, Alberta gets the up and coming young people, people who are here to work and succeed. Welcome!

Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan are the power driving Canada's engine. We are the "have" provinces, including Newfoundland, which is a kindred spirit. Our malls are packed with young families, shopping, and buying things, making the engine purr.

Brad Wall's win tonight is a clear message that given a choice between a "collective" and rewarding individuals, in the end the individuals will win. Good job Wall! Believe it or not for the first time in years, Saskatchewan is growing. I still see the occasional Sask plate, but I suspect they are just driving through. 

I wish we had Klein back, but as that won't happen, I want Brad Wall to be the one who defends the west's oil. Our premier elect is a waste of space, she was too busy getting elected to go to the US and make our case for why the US NEEDS our oil. Wall has been a great voice for the west and now that the election is over, I hope he will clue in both the premier of Alberta and the premier of BC, they both need a swift kick in the butt.

The 100 million that Alison gave to the teachers could have been better used to promote our oilsands, but I suspect the lefty PC are too scared to actually support Alberta's biggest industry. After the Stelmach royalty disaster, we need leadership like Wall has provided to Saskatchewan. We need the Wildrose Alliance!

Even with our lame leadership in Alberta, the west is the place to be for young people who want to work.....well except for Occupy Vancouver, they are obviously smoking too much BC Bud!

Go west young man/woman has never been truer! We actually have good paying jobs out here!

Danielle Takes On Alison

 As Alison Redford gets sworn in today as Alberta's 14th Premier, Danielle Smith and Wildrose leave no grass growing underneath their feet. Is the next campaign already underway?   Wildrose has released two TV ads attacking Alison on her flip flopping.  Take a look here at the first one.



Now take a look at the other one.



It's obvious Danielle is trying to define her opponent before her opponent tries to define herself.   It's a page out of PM Stephen Harper's playbook that worked out so well for the CPC when they came out early defining two former Liberal leaders, Stephane Dion and Michael Ignatieff. 

Will this tactic work for Danielle and Wildrose?  We'll have to wait and see but one thing we know,  next election Albertans will have a real choice that they haven't had in such a long time. The difference between the Wildrose and the PC's are striking.   The Progressive Conservative party is in no means "conservative."

The PC's have clearly drifted to the left,to the progressive side. The old  tired establishment PC's are for big government just like the Liberals,and the ND"s. and they are beholding to special interest groups and unions like Alison who just made a  backroom deal with the teacher's union to reinstate $107 million dollars of taxpayer's money that was cut in the spring budget.

Wildrose on the other hand is a small government grass roots kind of party and not beholding to unions or special interest groups and will not make back room deals for power. 

I can't wait till next election. It will be an exciting one!  Let the games begin!

The Next Chapter in the Alberta Tory Leadership Race

The Alberta PC's are in the process of choosing a new leader who will automatically become premier as of Oct 1.  The first ballot was last Saturday,September 17.  Gary Mar came out on top with 41% with Doug Horner and Allison Redford coming in second and third.  Ted Morton,Rick Orman and Doug Grffiths did not do well and had to drop out.

Second ballot will be held on Oct 1 when one of the candidates will be declared the winner.  The three losers have put their support behind front runner Gary Mar but at least two of  campaign managers so far are not happy.  They are not following their leaders to support Mar.
 Former Alberta PC party leadership candidates Ted Morton and Rick Orman have endorsed Gary Mar in an increasingly heated contest, but their closest advisers are far from happy.

The campaign managers for both defeated leadership hopefuls said Tuesday there's no way they're going to support the Tory front-runner in his bid to be premier, regardless of what their former candidates say.

"All I've got is a very, very bad taste in my mouth about everything," said Sam Armstrong, Morton's campaign manager and longtime adviser.

In a stinging criticism of Alberta's former envoy in Washington, D.C., Armstrong said Mar becoming premier will not bring "renewal" to the Alberta Tory party.

 Even some of those MLA's who supported the loser candidates are NOT moving over to the Mar camp.

Despite these endorsements, some of the MLAs who supported the defeated candidates are not moving to Mar.

Will they all come together after the new leader/premier is chosen? Who knows?  But there's still too many "good ole boys" in the backrooms calling the shots.  That's one of the big problems with the PC party.,is the establishment and it's become stale.  So no matter who becomes the next leader/premier whether it's Gary Mar,Allison Redford, or Doug Horner, it will be status quo.  NOTHING will change I can assure you that!

Alberta needs a fresh new start with a new grassroots Wildrose party next election without the "good ole boys" the back rooms and it starts now!

Update: Seems like some Morton supporters are buying Wildrose memberships.
 

It appears Ted Morton's loss is the Wildrose Alliance Party's gain.
Morton is among the failed Tory leadership candidates now throwing his support behind Gary Mar, but it is a move that is angering some of Morton's backers.
Shayne Saskiw, with the Wildrose Party, tells QR77 news that Mar's advantage in the leadership race is sending more conservatives their way.
He says membership sales are triple the normal pace since Saturday's Tory leadership ballot with 300 sales since then.

It Is Time For The Reign To End!

The Alberta PC's just killed their chances to continue their 40 year reign, they are now DEAD. Oh, the skeleton is still rattling it's bones, thinking it's still alive, but Albertans' know it is DEAD, it just hasn't been buried yet.

Until this weekend, the debate amongst Alberta’s long-ruling Progressive Conservatives wasn’t if the party needed to change to survive, but how. By Saturday night, after votes had been tallied for the party’s leadership race to replace retiring premier Ed Stelmach, it was clear that change had already come. The contest isn’t over: the top three contenders — Gary Mar, Doug Horner and Alison Redford — will now spend the next two weeks running like Kenyan marathoners into the last stretch of the drawn-out race. But the results revealed a party clearly and profoundly transformed after four-and-a-half tumultuous years under Mr. Stelmach’s rule. And not for the better.

Mar, Horner or Redford??? Are you kidding me? I thought Stelmach was bad, but these candidates are killers....killers of the PC party that is. What a joke! Our PC's are on the same track as the federal Liberals, dying a slow painful DEATH without understanding how it is happening.

I have mentioned before that the Wildrose Alliance was looking like the party to vote for, now I know for sure that they are Alberta's only viable alternative. They could not possibly be worse than what we have suffered these last 4 and 1/2 years. It has been torture. That torture must end. No self respecting Conservative could vote these guys back in. It is time for the reign to end.

I got lots of calls from Morton's team and Mar's, I still couldn't be bothered to vote. Mar's people were down right rude, wonder how obnoxious they will be if they win. It doesn't really matter, whoever becomes our next Premier is going to have a short reign.....bring on the election so we can get rid of all those do nothing PC bums. I guess the Liberals and NDP who pretend to be Conservatives are voting for Mar, because no Conservative would ever think he was a good choice.

Wildrose, Alberta's new and only hope. Now is the time for them to ramp up their profile. Get the word out, the PC's are DEAD, and the Wildrose is the only alternative. I am going to buy a Wildrose membership now, and volunteer for them next election. It's time to rid Alberta of the "Red Tories" who are currently in power.

Are the Alberta PC's Days Numbered?

 I hope so and it would be about time In an interview with Sun Media, Preston Manning seems to think so.

CALGARY - The Alberta Tories' days could be numbered if a new leader doesn't frankly address major weaknesses and reinvigorate the party, says an Alberta conservative icon.

Former Reform Party leader Preston Manning told QMI Agency on Wednesday he's not convinced any of the six candidates vying for Alberta's top job are going to shake things up.

"I'm concerned that none of the candidates, to the extent that I would like to see, are addressing the greatest threat to the governing party, which is its own long time in office and its weakness in a number of important areas to Albertans," said Manning. 

.  The PC's are old tired, out of good original ideas and they've become complacent and arrogant. They just celebrated their 40th anniversary in power.  With the leadership vote on Saturday, I'm not too impressed with any of the candidates.  None of them seem to want to bring real change to the party or the province.  Time to turf them out next election and bring in real change and invigoration to Alberta.

Another thing, the Alberta Progressive Conservative party should drop the Conservative out of their title because there's nothing conservative about them at all.  They have done nothing conservative in recent years. They've moved further and further to the  left.

  The Wildrose party is the way to go in my opinion.  They have new fresh ideas and a young energetic charismatic leader in Danielle Smith.and Wildrose is the ONLY conservative party in Alberta.

Come next election that could come as early as next spring, small c conservatives should not be fooled.  PC's will not give you a conservative government. They believe in big government.   Wildrose will be your only choice if you  want a truly small conservative government.

It Starts NOW!!!

Times have never been so exciting in Alberta politics. For the first time in years we have a real race going on.  The PCs have been in power for 40yrs now and they need to go.  Now they have a real rival. The Wildrose party is a relatively new party and is an honest to goodness real contender.

Alberta's Wildrose party held it's Annual General Meeting over the weekend. The theme was "It Starts Now" They signaled they are ready to take on the PC's who have been in power way too long and have become arrogant,entitled,and in recent years, incompetent and corrupt.  The Progressive Conservative party  have done nothing "conservative" in the few years. Alberta is a mess!  Wildrose is the only real conservative party in Alberta. I believe they are quite capable  to fix the province especially with Danielle Smith who is articulate, smart, credible and who has a lot of great ideas. 



As Wildrose lays out their platform they will be urging voters to give them a chance. She also told delegates that the PC's had their chance even changing leaders won't cut it,  they blew it and it's time for them to go.

She took dead aim at the six Tory candidates vying to replace Ed Stelmach as PC leader and premier, accusing them of being just as responsible for a long record of government failures.
Smith said would-be premiers Alison Redford, Ted Morton, Doug Griffiths, Doug Horner, Gary Mar and Rick Orman are "pretending" to disagree with some of Stelmach's unpopular policies.
They're also pretending to stand up for Albertans, protect land owners and search for real health reforms when, in reality, they're "running away from their own records as fast as they can," she said.
"The uncomfortable truth is this: they all helped create the problems we face today and now they are all pretending they are the ones who can fix it," Smith, flanked by Wildrose candidates, told party members packed into the Telus Convention Centre.
"They had their chance. They blew it. All of them. It's time for them to go.

If I were the PC's I would take Wildrose seriously because the latest poll says Wildrose is in striking distance of the PCs. and we're not even into an election campaign yet when the public pays closer attention.

Yeah the PC's and the media will try to smear Leader Danielle Smith and her party but  it's not going to work.
They saw what happened to the old Reform party now the Conservative party and it's leaders from Preston Manning to Stockwell Day to Stephen Harper.  They will be prepared. 

So to all you small "c" conservatives in Alberta why don't you get on board and help get a real conservative party elected in the next election.  We need change. Wildrose is your only choice. It's time to get to work and yes it starts NOW!!!

PS. Wildrose will scrap the Alberta Human Rights Commission. That alone should be enough to support them.  PCs have no intention of doing anything about the kangaroo courts.
